Favourite Trees Project

During 2011, Havant Borough Tree Wardens collected information about the Borough’s Trees.

Havant Borough has a large variety of wonderful trees in public parks, recreation grounds & conservation areas, in verges lining roads & streets as well as in private gardens.

Many of these trees are very old making significant landscape statements all year round. Younger trees are also intrinsic to the character of the built environment.

The project aims to get people thinking about the importance of trees in their local environment.

To collect this information, tree wardens asked local groups & societies as well as individuals to nominate their favourite tree giving if possible some history or telling a story about the tree.

The 40 nominations were collated at the end of 2011 and a panel of Tree Wardens selected 16 trees covering all areas and types of locations in the Borough.

Photos of the trees will be used to promote and celebrate trees in the Borough.

Look out for more news about this later in 2012.
