Forests could stop being carbon sinks

The ability of the worlds forests to sequester carbon dioxide may come to a halt if global temperatures continue to rise, according to 35 of the worlds top forestry scientists. In fact the scientists predict that in the coming decades, forests could actually release large amounts of CO2, adding to the global warming problem rather than helping to slow it.

Park Wood Vandalised

According to The News, hand made wood signs at Park Wood near Waterlooville have been sawn off. The cost of the signs is about £2,000. Peter Hodges, chairman of Friends of Park Wood is hoping that the Woodland Trust will provide new signs.
